RURAL DEVELOPMENT

Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana

- 3000 for the scheme which is implemented through the Panchayati Raj Institutions at Village,

Block and District level, to provide additional wage employment in rural areas and food

security.

Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes

- 11300 for the scheme which guarantees at least 100 days of wage employment in every financial year to every rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual

work.

Swaranjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana

- 1200 for the scheme which is conceived as a holistic self-employment programme with the objective of establishing a large number of microenterprises in rural areas.

Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana

- 5225.62 for providing connectivity to unconnected rural habitations through good all weather roads.

Rural Housing

- 2920 for providing assistance to rural poor for construction of houses for their shelter

DRINKING WATER SUPPLY

Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme

- 5200 to supplement the States in their effort to provide safe drinking water to all rural

habitations.

Rural Sanitation

- 800 for Total Sanitation Campaign in selected districts to be decided by the States.

Rural Electrification

- 3000 for rural electricity infrastructure and Household electrification of all rural Households over a period of 4 years under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikiran Yojana.

LAND RESOURCES

Integrated Wastelands Development Programme

- 565 for the projects taken up on micro-watershed basis through people’s participation. The

projects are generally sanctioned in non- DPAP and non-DDP Blocks.

Drought Prone Areas Programme

- 360 for tackling the problem of drought with long term perspective based on the strategy of

optimum utilization of land, water and natural resources.

Desert Development Programme

- 270 for controlling desertification and to conserve, develop and harness land, water and other

natural resources for restoration of ecological balance, and also to raise the level of production, income and employment through irrigation, afforestation and dry land farming.

AGRICULTURE AND COOPERATION

-          1000 for National Horticulture Mission.

- 739 for Supplementation/ complementation of States efforts through Work Plan (Macro

Management in Agriculture).

- 334.48 for Rural Employment Generation Programme to generate additional employment in the rural industries/sector through development of Khadi and Village Industries.

ELEMENTARY EDUCATION AND LITERACY

- 11000 for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Special focus will be on girls, children belonging to SC/ST

communities, urban slum dwellers and low female literacy blocks.

- 5348 for National Programme for Nutritional Support to Primary Education also called Mid-

Day Meal Programme. In 2006-07, 12 crore children are expected to be covered.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

- 1090 for the development and promotion of Information Technology.

- 395 for E-Governance Programme which aims at usage of Information and Communication

Technology (ICT).

- 252 for NIC which provides network backbone and e-governance support to the Central

Government departments, State & UTs levels.

HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE

- 9065 for National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to address the gaps in the existing scenario

of rural health and to increase the accessibility of health services in rural areas.

HIGHWAYS

- 110 for PM’s reconstruction plan for J&K, which includes upgradation of Srinagar Uri Road

(NH:1A), double laning of Batote-Kishtwar- Sinthan Pass-Khanbal Road (NH-18) and Widening of Domal Katra Road (NH 1C).

- 75 for Srinagar - Kargil-Leh Road.

- 110 for NHDP-III, 2 laning, express ways and 6 laning of the Crowded stretches of Golden

quadrilateral.

- 1535.46 provided to States & UTs for development of Road Network.

- 30.54 for Development of State Highways under State Plan.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

- 1 for Undersea cabling between mainland and Andaman Nicobar Islands.

- 97.14 for OFC based Network for Defence Services.

TEXTILES

- 535 for Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme.

- 189 for Integrated Textile Parks to provide industry with world class infrastructure facilities.

- 185 for Handloom Schemes which includes 35 crore for NER.

SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES

- 106 for Credit Guarantee Fund for SSI to provide collateral free loan to SSI Sector.

SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT

- 440.12 Special Central Assistance for Scheduled Castes Special Component Plan. About 4.50 lakh SC families likely to benefited during the year.

- 440 for Post Matric Scholarships for SC students by which about 25 lakh students are likely to

benefited during the year.

WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT

- 4087 for Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).

TRIBAL AFFAIRS

- 816.71 towards Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub-Plan Areas for the benefit of Scheduled Tribe families.

- 400 for creating critical infrastructure in the Tribal Areas to bring them at par with developed

areas.

- 189.78 for Post Matric Scholarships for Scheduled Tribe students by which about 8.40 lakh

students are likely to be benefited during 2006-07.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

- 340 for Multi Disciplinary Research in frontier areas of Science and Technology

- 180 for the National Mission on Nano-Science and Nano-Technology

- 130 for Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Research

- 30 for Women Component Plan.

ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS

- 642.34 for Ecology & Environment and National River Conservation.

- 562.69 for forestry & wild life and National Afforestation & Eco-Development.

BIO TECHNOLOGY

- 521 outlay increased by Rs.76 crore over previous year. Programmes aimed at agriculture,

animal sciences, aquaculture basic research biodiversity, bioresources, bioprospecting,

environment, product and process development in biotechnology in the areas of health care would continue to be main thrust.

SPACE

- 440 for Navigational Satellite System.

- 417 for Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mark-III Development.

- 348 for provided for INSAT System.

- 312 for PSLV & GSLV operational.

SPORTS

- 150 for development of Infrastructure etc. for the Commonwealth Games 2010.

POSTS

- 419 for development of Postal Services which includes Rs.270 crore for computerisation

and networking of Post offices, Accounts and Administrative Offices etc. (Physical Targets)

RAILWAYS

- 25000 wagons, 2463 coaches/DMUs, 305 EMUs/ MEMUs, 150 Diesel locos and 150 Electric

locos to be added.

- 4000 kilometers of track renewal.

- 360 route kilometers of electrification.

- 1100 route kilometers of gauge conversion.

- 550 kilometers new lines to be added.

FERTILIZERS

- 118.17 lakh tonnes of Nitrogenous Fertilizer production targeted.

- 48.20 lakh tonnes of Phosphatic fertilizer production targeted.

NON CONVENTIONAL ENERGY SOURCES

- 1000 remote villages targeted for electrification/ lighting.

- 2000 MW Grid Interactive Renewable Power capacity addition targeted.

STEEL

- 14.96 million tonnes of saleable steel production by SAIL and RINL targeted.

- 22.00 million tonnes of Iron Ore production targeted by National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC).

COAL AND LIGNITE

- 424.27 million tonne of coal production targeted.

- 20.40 million tonne of lignite production targeted.
