Among the leading cities of
Saurashtra is Jamnagar, the home town of "Prince
Ranjit", the great cricketer. Pleasantly laid out,
this modern town, with its great roads, picturesque
markets, extensive gardens and open squares is known as
the "Jewel of Kathiawar". It has a Radium
Institute, an Aeronautical School and a Solarium, the
only one of its kind in the east. Jamnagar is famous
for its silk and gold embroidery and tie-and-dye
prints.
