The major island Mumbadeve formed part of the wedding dowry when Catherin of Braganza married England's Charles Ii in 1661. Soon after the British takeover Mumbai started developing as an important trading centre and poet.

Since then the industry has mushroomed, trade and comer blossomed and Mumbai today at mid-nineties has metamorphosed into a dynamic megapotis the economic powerhouse of India, welcome to Mumbai.
